Arsenal fans will be happy or sad when they hear the striker Olivier Giroud wants to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer to play regularly.
Without coach Arsene Wenger considered the number one choice for Arsenal this season, Giroud is worried about the possibility of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. That is probably the reason for the 30-year-old striker wants to leave the club in the 2017 transfer period.
The French striker is playing the perfect substitute for the London side this season with six goals from the bench, the most in the league. Two late-season passes to Stoke City last weekend helped Giroud have 12 goals in the Premiership. On average, Giroud scored one more goal per game than any other player in the league for 92 minutes.
That is probably why the French striker believes he deserves more to play. At the end of April, Sky Sports’ prestigious sources reported that Marseille would like to bring Giroud back to Ligue 1, and is willing to pay £ 20m for a player who turns 31 in September.
Giroud has renewed his contract with Arsenal to the summer of 2020 in January. Arsenal spent 12 million euros (£ 9.6 million) to bring him home from Montpellier in the summer of 2012. He has scored a total of 97 goals for Arsenal, Only 3 more can join ‘Club 100’. This season, he has a total of 16 goals for Arsenal on all fronts.
